Following the pandemic, test delays and increase in private practice we have been asked about how legally safe we are in our pupils cars. There are various liabilities:

  • The control of the vehicle without dual controls
  • The legality of the vehicle mechanically
  • Other requirements (tax, MOT, Insurance)
  • After a crash
  • Injury
  • Loss of earnings
  • Reputation
  • And many more….

At Better Driver Training Chris and Ian have always taken Terms and Conditions seriously. Using MyDriveTime to get signed T&Cs from all customers, and a separate set of T&Cs (below) for private practice vehicles. We also recommend Marmalade Insurance as we know it ticks the boxes.

All of our instructors are required to have suitable Professional Indemnity & Public Liability insurance (Follow this link for an explanation) in place. Either through group policies with DIA, ADINJC or MSA membership, or a personal policy through the DITCs recommended provider Qdos.

The following template is for guidance only and The DITC take no responsibility for how it is used or upheld. We recommend that you take qualified advice before implementing any terms or conditions. Further details are available via theDITC.co.uk Also be aware that PI & PL insurance inclusive with car insurance may only cover ‘wheels moving’ situations in your own car.
